The source of illness, according to Ayurveda is craving. Craving, looked at closely, carries the energy of attachment. And attachment, looked at closely, carries the energy of lack and limitation.
How many scenarios do we find ourselves in enter into on daily basis with an already pre-conceived idea on the outcome? How much are we missing out on simply by being attached to an idea of “how things are”? Let me give you an example, I have, for the past year, been working on Pincha Mayurasana (the forearm balance or the peacock feather). I have, on countless times, found it impossible to balance. I would kick up to the wall and trying to break up with Paul Wall continue to fall over. A week ago, I decided to kick up without a wall (check out my video on instagram @namastebh) and guess what? I stayed up! The idea is that believing I needed something and reality were completely two different things. Being open and in “receiving mode” allowed it to happen. Hanging on to a concept is like closing your hand on a silver ring. Being attached to the ring may mean that you keep it in your hand (till it blackens) but it also means you will not have your hand open to receive the precious diamond that’s been begging to be received all this time.
