This workshop is a YACEP certified and is designed specifically for current Yoga teachers who wish to refresh their current teaching skills, re-inspire their Yoga practice or have questions/concerns or ideas they would like to reflect on with a group of Yoga Teachers. You are welcome to record this workshop. Please bring writing material and many questions so everyone can benefit from common questions.
The Schedule
Friday 23 December
9am to 10:30am Asana practice This class will focus demonstrates easy and effective ways of teaching the most difficult form of classes: a mixed level one. It will also help in refining alignment with a number of verbal queues, adjustments and variations that teachers might find useful. 10:30-11:30 Pranayama This will focus on a sequence specifically designed to stimulate and balance the nervous system 11:30-12pm Meditation If you have been putting off your meditation practice, this is a good place to start. A short introduction followed by a self guided silent meditation 1-3pm Sequencing and verbal queuing In this class we will explore effective ways to sequence classes. What do you do when no one understands what you're saying/ are too tired/ are bored in your class. How to sequence a class that is both challenging and achievable to most people. 4-5:30 Sample Aerial Yoga class Time for some fun! In this class we will explore the use of the Yoga hammock to help us rediscover poses, balance. strengthen and open the spine, challenge our bodies, break fear, satisfy the inner child and practice poses we have been putting off. Saturday 24 December 9am to 10:30am Asana practice This class is about fine tuning poses a lot of us are working towards: inversions, arm balances and fun transitions. Bring your sense of humour 10:30-11:30 Pranayama This will focus on a sequence specifically designed to stimulate and balance the digestive system 11:30-12pm Meditation A short introduction followed by a self guided silent meditation 1-3pm Adjustment and modification skills In this class we will cover some basic ways to modify and/or introduce props for people with injuries and restrictions. We will also look at safe ways to adjust students in poses to either correct them or help them go deeper into postures 4-5:30pm Self Enquiry Being a teacher requires that our awareness is focused first on self development. In this class we will explore ways in which to achieve inner stillness in order to be able to give our students an experience that comes from a pure place deep within the heart.
About Weam Zabar ERYT500, YACEP
Certified Yoga Instructor and Reiki Level 4 Healer and the founder of Namaste. Weam's teaching style is fluid, creative and fun. Her Yoga journey started in 2007 and nothing remained the same. Seeing how Yoga nurtured her life she left behind a demanding corporate job to dedicate her to guiding others and sharing their journey home. Namaste since has helped hundreds of students taste the sweetness of the Yoga practice.
Her enthusiasm, curiosity, energy, compassion and passion are contagious. She believes that everyone has an "edge" and whilst she is a firm believer that this edge is very different for individuals, she enjoys watching people grow from taking themselves to places that both challenge and respect where we are at in our journeys. Weam encourages both the fun that comes with movement and peace that comes with stillness.
