As some of you know, I returned to Iraq earlier this year after 29 years of being unable to visit. I spent all my childhood summers in Baghdad, and it holds a very special place in my heart. Going back was deeply moving — despite everything the city has endured, Baghdad’s spirit remains unshakable. The people were as generous as ever, the food was incredible, the culture vibrant, and yes…the shopping was fantastic!
Feeling the strength, warmth, and beauty of Baghdad reminded me how proud I am to be half Iraqi. It also inspired me to consider taking a small group there. I know some of you are curious but would feel more comfortable traveling with others — so that’s exactly what I’d love to offer.
This is not a yoga retreat, it is more a chance to connect with the culture, sample the food, stroll the streets and fall in love with the people of Iraq.

16 Dec: Old Baghdad Tour

Masqoof lunch followed by the old Baghdad tour. Begin your journey through the heart of historic Baghdad. Stroll along Mutanabi Street, the city’s celebrated cultural hub, and explore the iconic Rasheed Street. Enjoy the timeless charm of Shabander Café, browse the traditional Coppersmith Market, and wander through the vibrant Saray Market. Continue to Firdos Square, then view the Martyrs Monument.
17 Dec: Baghdad Historical Tour
Discover the deeper layers of Baghdad’s heritage with visits to Bab Al-Wastani, one of the remaining historic gates of the city, and Dur-Kurigalzu, home to an impressive ancient ziggurat. Conclude with an external viewing of Ctesiphon and its legendary Taq Kasra arch.
18 Dec: Shopping Tour
Experience Baghdad’s rich craftsmanship with a curated shopping tour focused on gold, antiques, and traditional carpets. Explore historic antique markets filled with unique collectibles and vintage treasures, browse the city’s renowned Gold Market with its beautifully crafted jewelry, and visit specialty carpet shops showcasing handwoven rugs and tribal designs.
